Orphaned at a young age, Rosaline was found by an academy scholar at the edge of Avalon using magic to launch small objects for her familiar to find and return to her. Seeing her natural gift for magic the scholar adopted her and sent her to the academy for training. Over time she grew and learned, and as she learned she discovered the concept and value of money. When she found out about the vast ammounts of money that he had spent on her tuition at the academy she begged her benefactor to allow her to work to pay for her own tuition. Unable to resist her whims as he had grown fond of her over the years, viewing her as his own daughter even, he called in a few favors to get her an interview as an assistant librarian at the Great Library which she passed with flying colors. As such she worked at the library during the day while continuing her lessons privately with the Academy professors by night. Until the night the library was sieged, escaping the destruction with a number of books on magic and relgion she fled to a nearby inn.
